XD I figure a minimum of one ~Incident~ would be needed to get things off the ground. From there it's a matter of whether you'd prefer that this be a well-established rivalry, or one that's just starting to emerge once the game starts.
But yes, basically the reason it works as spades (instead of just...you know, standard-issue hatred) is that I figure both of them are the type to respect the other's competence, which combines nicely/hilariously with the whole AUGH WHY DO YOU ALSO SUCK, STOP KILLING THINGS/NOT KILLING THINGS.
