Comment to this entry with your character's information/a claim to a title! An example of how your sheet should look can be found here! Remember a few things when commenting:

RULES:

1) This is not 100% canon, so misc. blood castes for trolls are allowed1 - however, we don't want to have excess numbers of mutantbloods running around, so please take that into consideration. Limebloods are also off-limits for the time being, since we have no canon information on them.
2) If you don't have a Patron Troll, Sibling, or Quadrants don't panic! Use the planning section below to find them.
3) POWERS for Trolls should be unique on some level; they are not mandatory for a character2
4) KIDS should be no younger than fifteen to sixteen years old
5) TROLLS should be no younger than seven sweeps old
6) Only one character per person will be accepted at the moment
7) There is an application cap in place! We would prefer not to have the game get any bigger than it was originally, so: a limit of four kids may be applied for. Trolls are at a limit of eight; all are permitted for Alpha session - Alpha was/is intended to be the larger of the two troll sessions!
8) Do NOT choose a Class/Aspect right now! These, as well as your character's planets (as they are supposed to be linked to your character's aspect) will be chosen AFTER you're accepted into the community. They are first-come, first-serve, so if you're building a character with a particular title in mind, there's no guarantee that you will actually get it!

1 Try to avoid a particular blood color if there are several with that similar type, diversity is more fun :)
2 If the one you want is taken, try to think of something quirky that works!


INFORMATION FOR NEW PLAYERS: Please refer to this post for a general outline of the game and what the multiple sessions entail! You can also use the game's timeline to refer to important events, or when a past character died or otherwise left the game. The most significant losses include Phaest Algfri and Samsra Sukana, the Alpha Team trolls that created the original game, and Arinna Onuava, who hacked Phaest's game and left Eighis Hapara to distrubute the game to Beta Team. So the remaining players might be in a heap of trouble without the creators around to explain anything!

It looks like a lot has happened since the game began back in March, but it really isn't that much to take in. Scrib is a very casual and slow-paced game - there is no activity check, and players are free to post and tag at their own leisure. :)

Abilities:
Perrix, like many trolls, is rather used to a life of strife. He even goes out of his way to fight dangerous animals and so is a rather skilled combatant on top of possessing a tall, well-built frame. Being a bit of a history buff and number-crunching to create the perfect FLARP character have made him relatively sharp. That said, the blueblood has a tendency to miss the big picture for all the details, to be incredibly single-minded, and to lack any real finesse or subtlety in most situations physical or social.

Personality:
"Narcissist" is a good starting word when describing Perrix. It would sometimes seem that he has trouble separating FLARP from reality. While he's normally nice to most other trolls, this stems from a belief that he is the "main character" of reality and therefore must act heroically to all "NPCs".

Practically his entire life revolves around doing things to make others notice or appreciate him, especially romantically. Perrix ordinarily has no qualms about blood color and like most trolls no aversion to same-sex romance, but the idea of anything but a highblooded female for his matesprit never even crosses his mind (a riff on the fairy tale idea of heroes winning the heart of a princess). Being "second best" irritates him but can be let go. Losing, however, cannot.

(EDIT: This part was added as clarification so there's a bit of repeating and it doesn't flow with the last bit as well. :P) Generally speaking, Perrix is fairly nice for a troll. Again, however, this seems to stem from some kind of megalomaniacal belief that he has to be nice to the "peons" in order to be seen as a hero and in case they can ever do anything for him. He'll spare the time to talk to almost anyone but especially prefers talking to women of blue or higher on the hemospectrum, with which he will shamelessly flirt. Anyone outside of that category doesn't seem to really register as an individual to him, so while he's surprisingly friendly, he can also be a bit dismissive and shallow.

Any situation where he can show off is a good one, and if a chance doesn't present itself he'll MAKE one, usually by boasting about something only tangentially related to the matter at hand. Competition is good, and he's normally complimentary and supportive of others - after all, that just makes it even more impressive when he beats them. Coming in "second place" or not just flat-out winning in something that he doesn't excel at tends to not bother him too much (after all, a min/maxed character can't be the best at -everything-, the point of min/maxing is to be the best you can at one or two categories of your choosing). Being completely humiliated or failing in something that he prides himself in is practically the only thing that can really set Perrix off. That's when he starts blindly swinging.

For the most part, though, he's rather chill and takes things in stride. Adversity is just seen as a chance to prove himself and seeing terrible things happen to acquaintances is just a reminder that he has to be better than them. Anything that wouldn't flat-out kill or disable him and doesn't involve losing in an observable way (and this is important - if no one else knows, it doesn't bother him at all), he's fine. Every hero is better with flaws, and adding a dash of tragedy to a legend only makes it sweeter.

History:
Perrix's life has been, much to his chagrin, rather uneventful. Living in a gigantic, labyrinthine hive near the shore meant that most of his days were spent near the higher bloods. Specifically trying to impress higher bloods with mixed success between playing "gated hivestem" games of FLARP.

INTRODUCTION:

Your name is PERRIX SEIYOS.

You are an enthusiast of EXTREME ROLE PLAYING for conflicting reasons. Part of you is a PERFECTIONIST and A BIT OF A CONTROL-FREAK, so you delight in MIN-MAXING your character by spending HOURS COMPARING LOOT AND STATISTIC BONUSES. It is sort of a PROBLEM because you slow down games and refuse to play on the same team as someone using an INFERIOR CHARACTER CLASS. The other reason you play is that Flarping also allows you to LIVE VICARIOUSLY THROUGH YOUR CHARACTER and pretend you are a TEMPLARAIDER, an ancient division of TROLL MILITARY that no longer exists. You are SOMEWHAT OF A TROLL HISTORY BUFF and love to read about LONG-PAST HEROIC DEEDS.

When not gaming you tend to HUNT ALTERNIA'S DANGEROUS LOCAL FAUNA, though you AREN'T SUICIDAL so you stick with SMALLER CREATURES rather than something as formidable as a MUSCLEBEAST. You don't do this for FOOD or any PRACTICAL REASONS, just to HONE YOUR COMBAT SKILLS and to try and EARN AFFECTIONS. Almost everything you do is to try and IMPRESS OTHERS, because you one day wish to win the COLLAPSING AND EXPANDING BLADDER BASED AQUATIC VASCULAR SYSTEM of a PRINCESS. Generally you are UNCONCERNED WITH BLOOD COLOR but when it comes to your matesprit, not any COMMON RABBLE will do. Only a REAL NOBLE PRINCESS of blue or higher is worthy.

Just changing that Perrix no longer has the olde Englishe thing going on since that's already got quite a bit of representation in the group! In its place, he now adds tildes (~) around any first-person pronouns (I, me, my, etc.), self-inclusive plural pronouns (we, etc.), or his own name/screen name, i.e. "what ~I~ think".

Abilities:
Avispa, specifically because of her history, is very fit and possesses incredible analytical and deductive capabilities. She is also able to survive on a minimal diet and can fend for herself in the wild.

Puzzles and challenges are nothing before her, given enough time and dedication to solving them, as the solutions seem to come to her as she works through them. Simple puzzles, such as rubix cubes, can be solved unconsciously. Her tendency to overanalyze even the simplest things, however, tends to be both a gift and a hindrance. There is no definition of "puzzle" in her mind, so even simple things can become puzzles to her.

Lastly, she lacks humor to the point that it could be called an ability. Whether it be not understanding the joke or overanalyzing it, she'll never "get" jokes, ever. Most jokes will result in either her brooding over it for the entire day, trying to solve it, and inevitably collapsing in confusion.

Personality:
Avispa's most prominent personality trait is her lack of social skills. Though she has considerable intelligence, she's not the type to actively seek out others to put that intelligence to use. An introvert by her very nature, she's more likely to observe others from afar to figure them out, turning their actions into her daily puzzles.

Her typing quirk reflects her usual shy-natured, apprehensive style of speaking. She is often unsure of how to handle conversations, especially if she has yet to solve her puzzles, as each and every thing that is said in the conversation could very well become a puzzle to her. She is prone to stuttering when unsure, accentuated by her added ellipses in her speech. In the event that she discusses a puzzle, her usual apprehension and shyness vanishes to allow her to fully discuss, at length, the puzzle; often without regard for the other party's interest in the topic.

She would welcome contact with other trolls and would do her best in each conversation she takes part in. She would rarely begin a conversation with others unless discussing a puzzle. Even after numerous encounters with the same troll, familiarity would remain a foreign concept. She acknowledges previous encounters, but "bonding" is beyond her. Though something that could be considered a category, such as a team, group, alliance, or faction would be understood in her mind without a problem.

Outdoors, her social skills disappear entirely. Being raised to survive, her focus becomes dedicated to that and that alone. Surviving is just as much of a puzzle as anything else, and it is the one puzzle that she has spent her entire life constantly solving; one piece at a time. Unfortunately, she has no proper sense of danger against foes and is unable to discern between weak or strong foes; this can lead her to end up being injured as a result of confronting a strong foe. With survival as her primary goal, she fights in an almost cowardly manner utilizing strikes and stabs while fleeing from oncoming offenses. If given a shield, she wouldn't know what to do with it nor would she want to know.

If she has not solved her four puzzles for the day, she will refuse to even sleep. Even if she were to try to sleep, her mind would be too wrapped up in her final puzzle to allow her even a moment of rest. If she grows too tired and inevitably solves her fourth puzzle, nothing will stop her from falling straight to sleep. Waking her is easy enough, as she never falls into a deep sleep; survival instincts are not so easily broken.

Thankfully, there is at least a single neverending puzzle that she can turn to if in need: The hemospectrum. Often, when fatigue sets in and she needs a fourth puzzle to finish off her day, she will contemplate the hemospectrum and its, to her, endless amount of confusing biological and societal rules and implications as well as caste designations. She longs to properly answer many of her long-standing questions about the eleven colors she is, sadly, unfamiliar with.


History:
With her Queen Bee Lusus, Avispa spent the majority of her life surviving in the wild. Her world provided constant challenges, puzzles, and obstacles. Her Queen Bee Lusus began their honeycomb hive in the center of the largest rock mountain. Any threats to the hive were often killed off with ease before coming close to the center. As Avispa grew, she ventured further through the hive and solved challenges and obstacles impeding the growth of the hive within the mountain. Never once did life allow her to settle in and create a proper room in her hive, as she moved around the hive from day to day, never staying in the same room twice.

The biggest challenge was food. Though mushrooms and plant growth within the rocky mountain could sustain Avispa in her youth, they were not enough as she grew older. Growing skilled as a hunter, Avispa replaced her lusus outside of the hive; within the hive, her lusus' primary focus became expanding the hive itself, lacing the tunnels throughout the mountain with defensive honeycombs. Though experienced, Avispa's cowardly style of fighting while focusing exclusively on her own survival makes her a weak fighter, unable to take down larger foes; though she fights them anyway, strong or weak.

Unique foes taken down either by herself or by her lusus, however, intrigue her. One of a kind creatures, for example, puzzle her in that she wonders why there were not more of them. She tends to keep trophies from these creatures. The most notable trophy that she possesses is a full skull from a hornbeast that fits upon her much like a mask.

Adapting to her survivalist needs, Avispa's hive is typically kept in her honeycomb fetch modus while her computer is mobile, contained in a set of glasses or goggles, depending on the weather.

INTRODUCTION:

Your name is AVISPA KUSBIR.

You live in a set of HONEYCOMBS that is also a HIVE, but still mostly just sticky HONEYCOMBS. You like to solve PUZZLES, but quite often the DANGEROUS KIND. You simply can't tell the DANGEROUS KIND apart from the SAFE KIND! You've been injured quite a few times from your lack of FORESIGHT.

Your daily routine is a PUZZLE from day to day. You solve your way through your HONEYCOMBS, often cleaning up leftover HONEY or adding to your HONEYCOMB FETCH MODUS! You often find various FLYING BEASTS or INTRUDERS caught or stuck in the HONEY. Your clever QUEEN BEE LUSUS takes care of both; she has always made sure you were well fed since you were a GRUBLING.

Outside of your HIVE, you can't really say you know too many other TROLLS. Maybe your CURIOSITY and PUZZLE-SOLVING desires will help change that? After all, there are probably even BETTER PUZZLES outside of your HIVE. To protect yourself, you keep with you your trusty STILETTO.

Abilities:
Very talented at writing prose, and often writes adventure fiction for fun.

Personality:
Franke is pretty shy. She almost always has her nose buried in a book, and much prefers the company of a novel. She also prefers text/chatting online to talking in person, if she had the choice. She tends to be quite quiet, which is reflected in her typing quirk (she types in all lowercase). However, she is pretty eloquent when given the chance to speak at length, due to her natural talent for writing.

When provoked (in battle), Franke gets Very Freaked Out and will not think things through at all--she acts purely on instinct. When given the choice to fight or flee, she will usually choose flee. Because she is not used to it at all, when battling she will usually use a lot of swinging, frantic attacks (which are silly-looking, but effective!).

Though she will usually be the last to volunteer to go on one, Franke loves adventures of both the real and fictional kind, and nothing brings her greater satisfaction than the end of one. When on an adventure, she always expects to act like her favorite adventure heroes--taking care of business! She usually starts out timid and afraid on an adventure, always tagging along on the back of the group, but becomes more and more brave as the adventure goes on, and always offers her ideas to the group.

Franke is fine when alone, but she does have a slight fear that she will never make any close friends. She doesn't know many trolls, and that concerns her. On the other hand, sometimes she convinces herself that adventure heroes can do just fine on their own. She flip-flops on this issue often, but it boils down to her insecurity over not having any of her quadrants filled at 8 sweeps. She also hates the fact that she is so shy in general, as adventure heroes are usually outgoing.

Due to her avid reading, Franke considers herself an "Intellectual;" and it's true, she is fairly smart. She's very logical in her decisions most of the time, and usually thinks things through fully before acting (except for, as noted, in battle). She is more mature in conversation than she is about taking care of herself and her hive; the library she lives in is always messy (and her lusus doesn't mind).

Franke enjoys music and usually listens to 50's style swing, rock and roll or doo-wop. She dresses to match the music: a full circle skirt with a petticoat, a peter pan collar blouse and a pair of blue cat eye glasses (with no lenses). Occasionally she will don a leather jacket with the letter "F" in blue cursive emblazoned on the breast.

History:
Franke has lived her entire life in the middle of a great valley inside a library. Though the library originally had many different kinds of books, most of them were replaced with adventure novels as Franke grew older.

POWER: Redrom senses: The ability to sense flushed or pale feelings. Depending on how close he is to the person the strength can vary. If it's a friend, he not only senses they have feelings for someone but can also pick up on who those feelings are for. He's unable to sense anything directed at himself however, only at other people.

Abilities:
Zir's biggest attributes are his speed and stealth, making up for what he lacks in brute strength. He's better at close and mid range combat, making it almost like a dance around his opponents. He's much like a lone wolf in how he fights, sharp and calculating with each movement. Even outside of combat he's rather observant of those around him.

Personality:
Zir has never been one for good first impressions, usually coming off as a total asshole with his smartass remarks and general mocking tone when dealing with others. There are times when he means it to sound that way, but most of the time it's just natural teasing that he doesn't even realize he's doing out of habit. He's very laid back in that manner, always seeing most things as a joke and taking very little around him seriously. This includes things that SHOULD be taken seriously and thus even more reason for people to dislike him at first. If he notices something like this going on and sees it actively bothering someone, he can usually back up and apologize in his own way. Never outright because that would be admitting that he'd done something wrong, but he'd find some way to make it up to them just to get them to be happy again.

And happy is a thing he usually is, even in the darkest situations. He has a bit of a grim sense of humor at times, finding amusement everywhere even if it's inappropriate at the time. It doesn't matter to him because there's always a bright side to things despite people who say otherwise. And those same people who say otherwise are his favorite ones. He's naturally drawn to such people and has an innate desire to make them see things the way he does, prodding and poking at them until they either give into his ways or finally snap. Usually it doesn't matter to him which way it goes as very little phases him.

He can come off as cocky and arrogant, never finding himself in the wrong and never taking a second glance at his decisions. If someone doesn't like him he'll either make life a nightmare for them with his teasing or be their best friend until they decide they do. It's about the same when it comes to quadrants. He knows what he wants and when he wants it there's very little he'll let stand in his way. He would never physically hurt someone or go to the point of being a creepy stalker, but he is very persistent with his wants and will do whatever he feels necessary at the time to convince them to see it his way. "No" just means he's not trying hard enough. And that's not just when it comes to relationships either. He's stubborn to the point of if he thinks something can be done, he'll die trying unless there's someone to hold him back and convince him of otherwise. Hopeless situations mean nothing to him, there's always a way out.

Despite his mockery and somewhat annoying behavior, when it comes to his friends he's exceedingly loyal like a dog. Once someone has his trust and care there's virtually no way for them to lose it unless they fuck up royally. He'll do anything for his friends, even if it means putting his own life in danger just so they can be safe or comfortable. He's also pretty good at doing favors for people, though sometimes it can come at a price. Money is of no interest to him though as he prefers "an eye for an eye" outlook on things and would just like a favor from them in turn.

He has a lot of pride, but very little shame. It's basically to the point where he doesn't believe he needs to prove his reasoning for anything, just knowing that they're right and he knows what he's doing. Because of this, turning his own mocking against him rarely works as he'll just roll along with it and turn it into a joke. If someone tries to mock him and call him a person's dog with how he follows them around trying to get their attention, he'll go out of his way to buy himself a collar just to show how few fucks he gives at that accusation.

Pissing him off is NOT something that someone would want to go out of their way to actively do. It's a hard task with how laid back he is most of the time, but in the rare occasion someone manages it all bets are off. He can be cruel, a backstabbing prick who goes out of his way to make their lives as miserable as possible all with a devil's smile. He'll make sure they pay for whatever they did, and be sure that they will remember not to fuck with him again in the future. In this state he has no sympathy for others and if they get in his way then that's really their problem, not his. Sacrifices can be made along the way, people shouldn't have gotten involved in the first place. But if it's one of his friends that ends up hurt because of his vengeful ways, he's much like a kicked puppy afterward when he realizes what an asshole he was and he'll do anything in his power to make it up to them.

Despite anything she thinks, she's nothing special among highbloods other than a knack for noticing romantic feelings when they're not directed at her. Also pretty decent at making traps!

Personality:
At a glance, Inanna seems nice enough, if incredibly eccentric and irritating. Though she is a seadweller (which she does make some effort to hide just so she doesn't scare people -- her hair is long and her collar is high), she's very friendly and outgoing, without much regard for the hemospectrum. She always has a smile and advice for anyone she talks to, though some observant people very low on the spectrum might notice an air of condescension to her words (suspicious!). But hey, she can't help it, right? She's a highblood. It comes naturally, and because of that she makes a point of trying to be as unintimidating as possible. With the way she speaks and carries herself, she gives off a very ditzy sort of impression. She seems to be overly concerned with everyone else's romantic entanglements, to the point of coming off as obnoxious, especially considering her seemingly very high opinion of herself. But she very clearly means well. She is overbearing and overly-passionate, but she does mean well! She just wants all her friends to be happy!

Much like the planet Venus, though, she's filled with poisonous gas beneath the surface.

While she doesn't care about the hemospectrum as far as who she associates with is concerned, Inanna does appreciate the position of power she's been given. Control is a big thing for her because of that! She enjoys pushing other people around in whatever way she possibly can -- and the most fun way she's found recently is by pushing her ships! (as a side-note, she also routinely captures animals in traps and lets them go/kills them, just for shits and giggles. It’s the same basic principle, but it’s better and different when the animals are sentient, you know?) This can take a beneficial form, like auspisticing for a black couple or getting a red couple to come to terms with their feelings, or something more negative, like Murdering The Hypotenuse (there is a very good reason her Strife Specibus is CleaverKind.). Even when it's not hers.

Luckily, this is pretty rare, and even though she is not in any way shape or form sane, for the time being she's probably been pretty pleased with the way her ships have been headed. She doesn't love love so much as she loves toying with people with varying degrees of success -- and even if there is a possibility of her slipping into a murderous rage when things don't work out the way she wants (she is very spoiled, after all), she still finds a dark sort of satisfaction in it once she calms down. A total failure, in the end, only means she has to try harder, despite her hissyfit. In the end, she likes a challenge the best, anyway. She can appreciate someone that accepts her help easily, but she adores people that struggle and try their damnedest to resist. Every single expression they make leaves her ecstatic. This is part of the reason she makes an effort to hide the fact that she’s a highblood. If effective, it provides a shock to the lower classes when they discover the truth, but her effort is very half-assed. She deliberately talks and walks in a way that makes her seem non-threatening if you don’t know any better, but she still types in her blood color because honestly, it’s a reaction she can take or leave. It’s fun when it works but if it doesn’t, oh well.

She is, however, completely and totally oblivious to any romantic advances made towards her, because of the time she spends meddling in other people's affairs. She is as interested as any troll her age should be... but it just never occurs to her, up until the other person is literally right on top of her confessing. That ditzy attitude isn't all facade -- her mind is other places, a good amount of the time. But if you manage to get through somehow, red or black? She freezes up, and pushes them as far away as she can. If lower castes get together because of her, who’s pulling the strings and making someone else confess to her, or giving her romantic feelings? Accepting or giving in to love or hate signifies to her a loss of control over her own life. A loss of control over her privilege and her right as a highblood, and from there, a slippery slope follows. If she falls in love/hate she relinquishes control of herself to another person. Because she loves/hates them, she’ll do what she can to make them happy/angry, without taking logic into consideration. Next thing you know, she’s enslaved on some ship someplace. It’s irrational, but the concept scares her, and it’s one of the few things she absolutely can’t handle. It's a neurosis that will definitely become an issue the older she gets, but she'll cross that bridge when she comes to it. Or get culled.

History:
Inanna's entire life has basically been spent living it up in a cavern in the ocean with Manateemom. Every once in a while after she hit a certain age, she'd be told to go up to the surface and throw her weight around. Which she did, very well -- but the kicker here is that she also, during one of these trips, met a pair of landdwellers and on a whim, decided to try and auspistice. With her aid, the couple worked their issues out and went about on their merry way... which gave her kind of a rush! Rather than interpreting it as a love for helping others, she interpreted it as a desire for control over the lower castes, and so began the worst set of love stories ever told.

Abilities:
Phylus is relatively smart -- but not necessarily in an intellectual sense, though he's not stupid. Instead, he has survival knowledge: he is good at surviving the worst, whether that be by ganging up on the enemy or climbing a tree, digging a hole, and waiting it out. He is also extremely good at working in groups, due to the nature of his groups' lusii -- the Meerkats. He is able to work well with other trolls to take on a common enemy in an almost mob-like fashion. In addition, he can make accurate maps of long distances, including tunnels and deserts, and is extremely good at climbing trees and cliffs to get a better vantage point. He does not have have any other significant abilities, but he is relatively physically fit and able to run far and go fast when needed. He's very agile and can run quickly -- though to get TO something or to get AWAY from something is up to chance.

Personality:
Phylus is, by nature, a jumpy person. He's quick to jump onto something -- he'll bandwagon with a group readily, or take up a cause held by others -- but is also quick to jump away. It's not that he is a flaky person; instead, he considers himself intensely rational, with a healthy sense of self-preservation. Phylus is a troll that knows his limits; he knows that he is not the smartest troll, the highest blood caste, or the strongest one around. Instead, he is content to stay relatively in the middle of the road, and his way of dealing with conflict reflects that. He attempts to avoid conflict when possible, not because he's scared, but because he believes that that is the best way to keep himself (and others!) safe. However, he is not ashamed of being a troll and, like many traditional trolls, can easily take someone in a fight. He's just hesitant to do so unless it's for a very good reason -- such as protecting a dear friend or saving himself from peril. He is certainly not one to jump into something without having a good reason.

Instead of putting his interests into things that would make him a better part of troll society, Phylus throws himself into things that are good for him and his family, or he and his friends. He likes making things that help the group of trolls that he lives with and so his interest in cartography was born; he enjoys having a written record, and enjoys being able to look at a paper and know that what he's looking at is certain. For him, stability is paramount. And when he can't find stability by using his traditional coping mechanisms -- by attaching himself to a protective group or by hiding from his problems -- he almost falls apart. Being able to survive is extremely important to him, and Phylus is bad at developing new ways to survive on his own. He's lived for so long with other people to depend on and trust that he is extremely co-dependent. It's a bad coping mechanism (and he KNOWS it's a bad coping mechanism), but he can't help but attach to others when situations get tough, or when he needs to fight something and he believes it is much too strong for him. However when something's in his way and he knows he is stronger…well, all bets are off. Just as Meerkats may kill a family member if it is advantageous to them, so too would Phylus gladly take a risk or push someone out of the way, particularly when it pertains to his own survival or the survival of one of his good friends. Overall, he is a very sensible person, but if the time arises when he has to pick between himself and his friends or a complete stranger…well, he's not the most altruistic of trolls. It's a shame, but what can you do? A guy's got to look out for his group and himself primarily.

As for his reactions to troll culture, the hemospectrum primarily, Phylus does not particularly care one way or another. Being a greenblood allows him some measure of autonomy -- not as much as a highblood, of course, but enough that he is free to look after his own interests as well as the interests of his hivemates without much trouble. His lackadaisical attitude mostly results from the isolation that living on the outskirts of the desert has brought to him, as well as his "take care of yourself and don't meddle in the affairs of everyone stronger" mindset. While he would not hesitate to kill a lowblood or a highblood if he needed to, he isn't a murderer; and if someone asked him to meet up with a highblood and have a chat? He'd probably call them insane. Overall he would rather stay away from highbloods than associate with them, at least in person. Over Trollian he is provided a sense of security, or somewhat -- with text, he can hide and not feel threatened personally, sure that no one can find him. Even his quadrants are a bit like this initially -- Phylus, as a jumpy, slightly cautious person, is hesitant to even engage in romantic endeavors. It takes a very special person to interest him in any flushed or black solicitations -- and heaven forbid if you're remotely threatening. He knows that this inability to handle conflict makes him kind of a deficient troll, quadrants-wise…but he's not particularly up to the challenge of fixing that yet. After all, he has a few years, right? ….right?

History:
After Phylus was chosen by a Meerkat lusus -- a somewhat small breed that would not provide him with much protection from the Alternian Wilderness -- he sought out the edge of the Alternian desert in which to make his home. What he found upon arriving was an already established hive colony of other greenbloods with Meerkat lusii. While initially distrusting, they quickly became close friends, looking after one another and taking after their Meerkat lusii in terms of protection. They would all gang up on any desert fauna that attempted to attack them, working in groups to distract and then kill the monsters, cooking them up to celebrate. Unfortunately, this developed an unhealthy level of obsession and codependency for several young trolls, something that an almost teal-blooded troll living nearby did not fail to notice. Being a lover of personal projects, she attempted to get the Meerkat clan to separate from one another and live independently, to varying degrees of success. Phylus was a partial success story; he took up cartography with great enthusiasm, though his fear of being ambushed while he didn't have his Meerkat troll clan around was great enough that he didn't stray too far from the hive. Nevertheless, he became adept at scuttling around the edge of the desert, making detailed maps of the nearby regions and the nearby hives of other trolls when he could find them. This interest eventually led him to start mapping the tunnels that he and his friends would make around their underground hives, as well, so that they could better learn to navigate. But although he struck out on his own occasionally, he was still quick to come back to the hive and reassure himself that everyone else was safe and sound.

INTRODUCTION:

Your name is PHYLUS INATTA. Over the years you have developed a close bond with your HIVEMATES and an intense love of SELF-PRESERVATION. Combined, the nine of you fight with LARGE STICKS and take down any wildlife that threatens your safe set of hivetunnels. You also consider yourself to be a GREAT AMATEUR MAPMAKER and are always seen scuttling around your tunnels and the outside of your hive with a lot of PAPER AND PENS in case the need to make a map arises. Abilities:
Like all jadebloods, Pherae has the natural ability to withstand Alternia’s sun. She has put that ability to good use tracking down (and, when necessary, lassoing) unusual wildlife, as per her other great talent: she is a very knowledgeable biologist and zoologist. Pherae is also quite empathetic – an unusual enough quality in troll society to bear mentioning here... though for that same reason it's probably more of a weakness. However, empathy shouldn’t be mistaken for helplessness: keeping up with her predatory antlerbeast lusus has meant learning to be fast and agile, and to be a good shot with her bow.

Personality:
Jadebloods get a strange deal in troll society. Not high enough on the hemospectrum to be nobility, but nevertheless too high to experience the discrimination lowbloods know, they are instead isolated by their unique ability to withstand the Alternian sun, and by their celebrated tendency to bond with unique and/or special lusii, giving them a particular connection to a central aspect of the troll reproductive cycle. All of that (but mostly the daylight) means that it can be hard to meet other trolls – at least in person. And, to be honest, Pherae prefers it that way.

It’s not that she doesn’t like other trolls! To the contrary, she very much so wants to be around others, to Contribute. Certainly she's quite fond of the trolls she meets through Trollian, and often makes herself available as an understanding ear. (She may or may not have a reputation as a bit of an ashen-slut.) It’s just that, well, other trolls are violent, and cruel. She would never judge them for it, of course; it’s her own personal failing and no one else’s that she’s so uncomfortable acting like that – so really, her daytime isolation is a good way to keep from embarrassing herself. Her lifestyle works out pretty well, too: under the guidance of her predatory antlerbeast lusus, she has learned enough speed, agility, and deadliness with a bow to impress any potential, ah, cullers. Just don’t ask her to use those skills on another troll.

I mean… she’ll still kill you and everything, if you really force the matter. But she’ll feel bad about it for months afterwards, and you don’t really want to put her through that, do you?

Ultimately, Pherae's personality is what happens when you take an irrefutably gentle soul with a strong desire to help others and and raise her to believe that her gentleness and empathy are unnatural. The result is a classically Alternian acceptance of killing as a simple necessity of life, paired with a massive and self-perpetuating guilt complex: Pherae feels bad about the violence of her life, then feels bad for feeling bad. Likewise, she's always questioning her own instinct to be helpful to other trolls: she's pretty sure she's doing good, which is important to her, but she can't shake the feeling that she's inherently "doing it wrong" in terms of being a troll.

Pherae’s great passion – and the way she hopes to fulfill what she sees as her duty to society – is for lusii, and their relationship to other Alternian fauna. She loves studying Alternia’s wildlife, no matter how apparently deadly (it might be observed that Pherae has a sometimes-questionable definition of “cute” and “lovable”), and dreams of putting her knowledge towards the breeding, maintaining, and improvement of the lusus population. It would be the best of all possible worlds as a job: helping young trolls by uniting them with the perfect lusus…and with no obligation to interact with actual other trolls in order to do so.

History:
Pherae Elapha was raised to the notion that she had an essential part to play in troll society, and it's a message she truly took to heart. From a young age, she sought to live up to this ideal, but soon found that her idealistic passion for being a positive influence on the world around her did not match up with the world around her's expectation that she be capable of routine murder. She coped with this in two ways: by using her interest in Alternia's wildlife as an excuse to isolate herself, and by attempting to more closely model her behavior on that of her ancestor, the wild and brutal Beastmistress Heliadae, a mysterious and nomadic jadeblood known for stalking the day with her coterie of deadly pets. "Deermom" was a helpful tutor too, encouraging her to quietly track prey and enemies alike before opening chase and running them down, then closing with her bow.

Unfortunately, unlike her ancestor, Pherae is simply put uncomfortable with killing – and not for lack of trying to be otherwise. The first time she took another troll's life it was with great confidence (in emulation of the Beastmistress), when another young troll came into her "territory" and attacked one of her favorites among the local animals. But after the deed was done she found herself overwhelmed with anguish: she had robbed someone of his life, and he hadn't ever known what he'd done wrong. Since then, she has been forced to "murder" once more, acting in desperate self-defense during her one deeply ill-advised game of FLARP (since I'm sure you were wondering: she strangled one of her two attackers/opponents), and it confirmed to her what she had already suspected: that she wasn't cut out to be a proper troll.

The only reason Pherae got involved in FLARP in the first place, though, was for the sake of supporting her moirail, the purple-blooded Epibat Delfin. Epibat was a devoted FLARPer, with a patient and strategic bent to his violence. Pherae knew that he was also artistic, and capable of applying his intelligence to kinder things – both talents that she did her utmost best to encourage; however, she couldn't keep him from the outlet he found in FLARP. Unsurprisingly, the highblood made a lot of enemies in his FLARP circles, and his reputation was only "improved" by the elaborate vengeance he took on the troll that survived attacking his moirail. All of this culminated about one sweep ago, when a group of lowbloods managed to return the favor and take him out for good.

...Suffice it to say, Pherae has earned her opinion of violence. She's very close to the end of troll, childhood now, and the Archeradicators have expressed an interest in her, but she wants nothing to do with that lifestyle.

Abilities:
Durian is a moderately skilled tracker. Chasing prey is fun from time to time, but recognizing a game trail and putting successful snares in it: food with minimal effort is truly satisfying.
After a couple sweeps of nomadic life, Durian has good endurance for walking and can run quickly.
He's good at quick arithmetic, able to calcuate a person's numerological associations in his head.

Personality:
Durian is named after a stinky, prickly fruit and a philosopher/soldier/physician/occultist, and that symbolizes a lot of him.

He’s prickly and defensive, quick to dismiss stupid people and remark on their stupidity. Not that he thinks he knows everything! Durian is modest about his own skills and knowledge. Being a seeker of truth requires admitting your ignorance, questioning what you know, and asking what others know. Trolls who don’t admit to their ignorance are thus clearly less knowledgeable than him and they deserve to be told so in detail. He’s a little too fond of that part.

Seeking truth also involves exploring the world. He and his lusus travel extensively, experiencing life in a variety of environments and running from a lot of dangerous creatures. They scavenge from abandoned hives, eat various plants and hunt small animals. His culinary and alchemical adventures leave him smelling strange, but he doesn’t mind. Other trolls might mind, but he only rarely lives near other trolls; his lusus gets nervous when trolls live within sight. It's a disappointment, as Durian prefers being around other trolls. He likes watching the relationships evolve around him and contributing to the drama. It’s interesting how a rumor can change the dynamics, and it’s downright funny to see a troll hurt themselves. He likes to know what others think, and he’s an enthusiastic gossip.

Secretly he wants friends and quadrants who would long for him as he travels and rejoice when he visits. Anyone willing to get past his bluntness would find a tender, loyal center with just a few pit seeds of emotional neediness and highblood superiority. He’s quick to exchange loyalty for loyalty, hoping to buy relationship security through obligation. So far all his attempts at filling quadrants were brief flings. That may have been because the neediness was off-putting, or it may have been his blood bias. It’s not that all highbloods are superior or all lowbloods inferior, he would quickly deny. After all, he knows lowbloods who manage to thrive have very different perspectives from him, and he likes to learn from them. It’s just a tragic truth that those who live longer have more opportunities. In his more charitable moments, Durian thinks that maybe some troll scientyrant should work to lengthen the lifespans of lowbloods.

Durian’s symbol is a caltrop; a simple tangle of metal that rests on the ground with a spike upward. Enemies who pass over caltrops will injure themselves or their mounts. It’s a very passive, cheap, and effective weapon with a karmic retribution to it: if they weren’t advancing where they’re not wanted, they wouldn’t be wounded. Durian is paranoid about directly entering clear combat, as his lusus taught him very little about fighting and much more about evasion. He’d rather retreat, and if retreat doesn’t work he’d rather fortify and leave traps for his enemy to weaken themselves on. If direct fighting is the only choice, he carries a big stick.


History:
Durian used to live in a mostly-underground hive, nestled in the roots of a giant durian tree. He loved the prickly fruit for its flavor and the painful spikes of its outer covering. The smell took longer to get used to. Stepping on the spikes many times inspired him to deter most dangers to his hive by trapping the land around his hive with barbed wire and caltrops.

Some foxes prefer to pick a single territory and defend it, others prefer to roam perpetually. Durian prefers to have a steady home. His lusus doesn’t. Fox Dad accepted that a kit would want to live in a den while young, but as he aged the more Fox Dad chafed for them to travel. To placate the lusus, Durian had them take regular hiking trips that would last a few nights. Their hive was destroyed while they were away on one of those trips. Fox Dad was unbearably smug for perigees afterwards. Durian didn’t want to live perpetually on the move, so whenever they find an abandoned hive that both like they move in for a while.

ANCESTOR:
Troll Agrippae, the Sorcerer whose wriggler name was Cornel Agripa. A Researcher/Physician/Soldier (I haven’t throught of a troll job yet) who was repeatedly demoted for probing too much into F9R6IDDEN T9PICS. He was demoted instead of culled only because, after he survived the first few culling attempts, most superiors just didn’t want to deal with him. An arrogant, vulgar troll who was rumored to have a large BLACK canine for a lusus.

Abilities: Ameyaa is a traveler. In order to keep her protected, her Lusus kept moving across Alternia, as such she spent a lot of time looking up at the stars and learning a lot about living off the land and staying safe when just about everything on the planet wants to eat you and the sun intends to fry you. She knows just about every hiking and camping trick you can think of, as well as navigation and hunting. Unlike many trolls her age, she's not slave to a recooperacoon and has been awake on prospit for some time and thus doesnt suffer the nightmares her fellow trolls deal with.

She's very quick on her feet (see her element: quicksilver) and deadly with her blade, and really has no hesitation when it comes to killing things, and is very physically able. Not weight lifter strength, but living like a wild child allows for a healthy amount of strength. This lifestyle though leaves her more inept at technology then other trolls, and while she's often on trollian via voice to text and uses her computer to read long historical anthologies and fascinating fiction, she's that friend who forwards you a retarded amount of chain mail because she believes they're true, and needs to be walked through installing/playing video games, removing viruses, ect. Most pop culture goes over her head.

Personality: Ameya is distant but very friendly, she's willing to talk to just about anyone, though she keeps a comfortable distance emotionally. There are times that her distance from real civilization comes out though, she's rather wordy and doesn't catch most slang, and can be uncomfortably abrupt at times. She's fascinated by the idea of knights and quests and the tragic heroes from the books and mythology she reads, and fashions herself towards being like those characters, though she hasn't really figured out what her quest is at the moment, though she does know it starts out there in the stars she's always staring up at.

Despite her mutation, she doesnt put much weight on her blood. If someone asks she'll state that it's red, or let people make what ever assumptions they want to about it. She doesn't normally stay in one place long enough to have any trouble started over it. She does understand the hemocaste system rather well though, and keeps it in mind when talking to others. Romance in any form really hasnt been a priority.

Towards her real friends, which she doesn't have much of yet, she can be very friendly, and rather touchy feely. When she trusts you enough, there's nothing stopping her from draping over your shoulders or hugging you or showing her affection in some way. When she dislikes you though, she'll make it very perfectly clear and treat you like some kind of disgusting bug that crawled out from under the sink. She rarely yells, if at all. When she's angry it more radiates off of her in short words and referring to you in complex and insulting ways.

Her lusus keeps her very well trained, and she really has no problem with killing someone if that means protecting herself or her friends. She's spent most her life hunting to feed herself and her rather large lusus, and being covered in blood doesn't remotely bother her. She'll slaughter something then go and give you a hug. In that way, she's a lot more like an adult troll then many her age.
